After looking through all the comments people have left me recently this one occurred to me, particularly due to mattchee's ( If you have not seen matt's excellent comic Mastorism, I would suggest giving it a look. ) comment about the unintended underwear pun present in my post. Why I chose to substitute underwear for a hat I can only guess. I was no longer in control of this little guys wardrobe choices at that point ( I probably shouldn't have left such a choice in the hands of someone who was created with such poor taste is accesories as to own "grills". )

Many of the ideas I come up with come from varied places and inspirations, but most often they come as a result of my daily interactions with other creatures of this planet ( Only rarely do creatures of other planets contact me, and they're generally a rather stiff bunch. ). As I go throughout my day I allow the chicles to spend time playing with the ideas that come to me from the things I or other people say and do. I make a note of this, because recently it was asked of me if I simply come up with these things off the top of my head while I sit at my desk ( I'm beginning to seriously consider a FAQ here. ). And the answer is: not a chance. I do not believe that there is a humor writer on Earth who can come up with more than one or two good ideas while simply staring at a blank wall on the opposite side of their desk ( The number of bad ideas they can come up with that they think are good is another matter entirely. ). Chances are good that anyone who says they can write a million great jokes just from staring at a blank sheet of paper is a dirty, cheating, liar ( Not that I'll hold it against anyone. Humor is a demanding field and every year millions of people fail spectacularly at it so they might as well take what they can get. ). In my colourful experience in the artistic community and as a creator myself, I've generally come to a theory of art much like the scientific theory of conservation. Namely, you have to put something in to get something out. Whether it's music, coffee, cigarettes or throwing poop at a wall ( See, I've just come up with one right now. Don't steal it. ), something usually gives people ideas. That being said, I hope that finally clears up that particular question. Because if it doesn't, I may have to come over and throw a few things at your walls.
