ErrePi onHey guys, so my laptop crashed.
So that's awesome. I had two and a half week of pages done so now I kinda have to redraw them again. I'm not used to photoshop so sorry if the pages look wonky. Luckily, I'll still be able to keep up updates since each page takes… about 20 minutes.
Regardless, it looks like I'll be able to recover everything on my laptop in a couple weeks so I'll probably be reuploading all those pages in replacement of these pages I've drawn here.
Moving on… thanks for the music video suggestions! I'll be sure to check them out as soon as my life isn't in such despair. (All my art, all my fanart. Sigh.)
Being an aspiring music video artist I was hoping to expand my horizons a bit. Everyone seemed to suggest rock music videos though, which is sweet. I guess I've been trying to broaden my view a bit since I listen to rock primarily too. I've been interested in the cultural differences in music styles, like fashion and just overall art style associated with each one so I noticed a trend in the ideas for rock music video.
I don't normally listen to hip hop or pop so I was curious to see what kind of videos would come out of the genre and especially what would happen if they had a big production value, i.e. people like Kanye West and Lady Gaga.
What can I say? I've been sorely disappointed and I can't help but feel they wasted their money. (Though this could be based entirely on personal prejudice so don't get too angry.) I'm a little iffy about HD, certain types of HD out there looks a little too hyper real. In reality there's always a constant depth of field so not everything is so sharp and clear which is the look that these videos seem to go for and it looks incredibly glossy and shallow. I hate it.
It's also kind've fun to watch old music videos and then compare it to now, music videos in the 90s had such a literal interpretation of the song so when it tried to match up in tempo with the music it had a very surreal pace to it. Nowadays there's a lot of music videos that play very cinematically and tell a story, it's kind've like a reverse movie where a score is made to fit the movie but in this case the director or whoever is inspired by the song to make a story.
I'm not sure how I feel about this story telling, a lot of the times, when done poorly, I get more distracted by the story and the song seems to be interfering almost. I'm just saying, there's a way to tell a story subtly, "Apartment Story" by The National had a style I enjoyed very much.
Wow, ok. This has nothing to do with the comic. Just felt like ranting I suppose.
Just thought I should say, 20 cuts in a second does not an awesome video make, nor does a randomly placed eye patch. Lady Gaga.
And crappy rotoscoping makes children cry. Kanye West.
ARGH. Ok. I hope you're enjoying this comic as much I'm enjoying drawing it. 'Til tomorrow.
