A good line from a story to describe the motivation behind their action that helps me write this comic.

"Soldiers in the intervals of battle laugh easily, and a jest in the death chamber conquers by surprise."

I like reading war stories, especially from the soldier's perspective. I can't say I understand the soldiers, that would be presumptuous, but I take what I can and put it into this story.
