Drag Kings (Part 97)

Ninety-seven comics and more than a year later, "Drag Kings" concludes. This story erupted into my mind fully formed one summer day during a drive into work. I had been binging on one of my favorite 1980's TV shows when the natural question arose, "What if I wrote a SPACE: The Comic story like I was writing an episode of Miami Vice?" Instead of Crockett and Tubbs, Galanos and Schwartz would venture undercover into a scenic paradise undercut with crime and the darker side of humanity. I also made an effort to mimic the pastel New Wave color scheme of the show to which I was paying homage. I didn't just want to make Miami Vice… In Space!, though. It had been a long time since Galanos and Schwartz embarked on a big adventure, and I often feel like they just sit on a big, fluffy couch at the center of the comic's action. It's the kind of story I wanted to tell before… things change… in the overall narrative. In any case, I made sure to break from "Drag Kings" occasionally for short visits with other characters. I do want to avoid tales of such length for awhile.

— This is not an official LEGO comic. This is a tribute.
