Mud-tractor ride
Aridy onGetting back into camp after Corozal ended up being a really big reason why I should have just stayed in the jungle that weekend. I mean I could have woken up to more mosquito bites in my precarious hammock every morning and showered with a bag filled with water heated by the sun over the period of the day. I would have been more prepared for the rest of the time on site, but instead I went to Corozal and spent more money than I should have, on a bunch of stuff I shouldn't have, racked up a bill calling home from a payphone, and slept in a very non-air-conditioned, cramped room with six other people and only two beds. And then there was the ride back…the mud-tractor ride…we had to get ourselves, and the stuff we brought with us, back to camp by riding on a plank of wood on wheels that was pulled by a tracker. We could not walk back because the way was too flooded and we would have been more likely to get bitten by snakes in water. The tractor was not really up for the journey either. It kept getting stuck and we would have to get out and push, getting covered in slime and mud in the process. It was also pretty dangerous cause there was not a lot to hold onto and lots of stuff kept kicking up and hitting those sitting on the plank of wood on wheels. I still have to say though…it still the best adventure that I have ever had…ever…
