El Cid sez: The opening pages start off with some really interesting, nearly abstract, illustrations of the birth of the universe. After that, we get a really neat photo montage of alternate Earths, all of which shows plenty of creativity and is actually pretty interesting stuff in its own right. But after that, when we finally see how the comic itself is going to be, it's a letdown. Shasta's main strength is as a writer and, while her illustrating technique does improve somewhat in the later chapters, she still has a long way to go.
