There's a little history to this one.

Back when I decided to make Albion I debated whether to make an original trek like comic or a fan comic. While it's obvious what I decided this is a vague hint at the road not taken…

Obviously if I made a trek like comic it would have to be slightly different. Copying star trek wholesale would be pointless, I might as well just make a fan comic…

During the research into trek while developing Albion I learned of an abandoned spin off idea from the original series, one about a hospital ship that would have been a medical drama in space. Also I had watched a bit of the Chicago tv shows around that point and thought why stop at medical stuff? What about space firemen and Police?

It got rolled into the idea of a space rescue service. Like thunderbirds IN SPACE!
