When the spate of witch hysteria hit Europe in the late middle ages and later, I'm proud to say that my ancestral home of Wales, only sentenced 6 witches to death. If I recall correctly, 2 escaped. Not sure if 2 or 4 died - hanged. Contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of witches were hanged, not burnt at the stake - which must be a terrible way to go. Btw Ireland only hanged a similar number.
