You might be wondering what Charlie meant when he said that Darwinians aren't able to operate the Dish Transfer Sytems, even though you clearly see they're using them to cross the water. The thing is that they're able to use the systems for moving about, but that's not the same as operating them. In Darwinia, the player would directly control the radar dishes and aim them at whichever radar dish they wanted their transfers to, but you would first have to use your engineer to reclaim the dish as yours. Darwinians weren't able to operate them like that, and relied on engineers and the player to set it up.
