You know what I love about being an Aussie? Monday nights you get Good News Week with its adult type humour and no censoring words like fuck and shit, but you also get Underbelly, which also swears and has topless women, again uncensored. And both shows start at 8:30pm, are an hour long and run on Commercial Television. That's right americans, stuff you can only have on HBO, we get for free.
So lately I've been trying to get into some more mature drama shows. And recently, I came across Dexter. For those of you unaware, it seems the boy genius grew up and became a murdering sociopath. I was shocked to find out it wasn't based on the kid from Dexter's Laboratory, but in fact an entirely different person altogether, making the previous sentence false.
Okay, for reals. Dexter is a forensic scientist with the Miami Police who has an addiction to killing, according to him. On the plus side though, he only kills bad guys, never the innocent. Everyone around him thinks he's a nice guy and don't even suspect him of being a murderer it seems (I say now, I've only seen one episode of season three, so this is basically what I know from trailers and that one episode. For those of you curious, it's the one with his bachelor party).
Anyway, being a 'me too' creature, I now want in on this level of adult material. A TV show that doesn't treat its viewers like they're children. The adults actually swear like normal adults do, not try to come up with nicer phrases that sometimes sound stupid. When someone dies, we see it and we see blood, or the lack of blood in case of stranglings. Nudity, violence, etc. There's a little sugar coating, but not as much.
Now all I need is an idea for the series and I'm set. That's right, I want to write a TV show and don't even know what it's about. But hey, it's worked for me in the past… until I got bored. And don't worry, I'll make sure only the attractive ladies get naked (Ugly ones will die, hah).
