I'm working with this indy company and one of my editors actually told me I needed to sacrifice half the plot and lose most of the character development to cut down the number of issues. Then she decided the famle characters needed to be naked. Thankfully, she got fired (She was also the artist and had no concept of the word 'deadline').

Now I have no problem with editors, it's just the ones who try and kill the story because they think they're the supreme masters of story telling. It's only supposed to happen in DC and Marvel, but I have run into a few who wanted to completely rip my scripts to shreds and then sew them back together in a way that everyone else agreed was a pathetic attempt at trying to become writers themselves.

I in all honesty wish I could work with one who wasn't like that. I want the editor who only makes subtle changes that really do help, but asks you about it first, like they're supposed to. I want one who works with everyone, pointing out flaws, but being nice about it. These people exist and they're good at what they do. These types of editors I can respect.

And I hope that if I ever do become an editor, I can be one of these people.
