Back in high school, we had a day just before the Palm Sunday weekend and pretty much all did all day was go to a two-three hour mass, then you got the rest of the day off. One year, I tried to get the whole day off. Being the little smart arse that I was, the day before I told my teachers I couldn't attend because I was giving up church for lent. After a little debate (Which got me some extra credit for english) I was informed that yes, I could have the day off. Yay me!
As a comicker, I am involved in the debate of web vs. print, despite not really being famous, nor being at pro standards (How in the hell do you mark a pro in webcomics?). Currently, I run a webcomic, am planning to put up a more serious one and have a couple of projects that will be available in print this September. So I'm on both sides, who do I pick?
In all honesty, I would prefer succeeding in webcomics first. I love the freedom, the total ownership, the instant feedback, the lack of money required. If I could only enter one format, I would stick with webcomics and never look back. Not saying I hate print, I love it, but I just have a closer bond to online sequential art, one that I hope never fades away.
I don't do this for the money, I do it for the fun. Any cash I do make (Which has been so far very low) goes into advertising so more people can enjoy my stuff. This isn't my job, and probably never will be. But I want to see it succeed and be loved, so I'll keep working until it is.
