Avon Park Florida is home to a military bombing range which has been the subject of alot of conversations recently due to some very loud testing they have been doing these last few weeks. The story in the Highlands Today states that they are not doing anything new out there, however the cloud cover caused them to fly lower, and the clouds themselves amplified the sound. It also stated that they were not using live bombs, but replicas, and that they would start using live bombs next year. The funny part of this really is a quote from the spokesman for U.S. Fleet Forces Command who said that "You probably won't hear the planes because they will be at such a high altitude, but you may hear the bombs, it won't sound like anything out of the ordinary".
Bombs.
Bombs won't sound like anything out of the ordinary?
Where does this guy think we live?
Is there anywhere in America where bombs don't sound like something out of the ordinary? Or do I just not know what a bomb sounds like… I assume it sounds like a large explosion… thats what movies and TV have taught me, but maybe I've been lied to.
