Delegate Disaster
Awesometown onNear as I can figure, since Florida decided to push it's Presidential Primary up before Super Tuesday, my vote is now useless.
I'll be honest, I'm a registered Democrat… but in reality I'm more independent than I am strictly a Democrat or Republican. In wake of Florida's decision to move their primary, Florida has been penalized and can send no delegates to the National Convention to choose a Democratic candidate for president. On the Republican side they have been docked half of their delegates.
I couple of other states have been penalized the same way (Michigan comes to mind), I'm not sure if those states are seeing similar lack of interest as I see in Florida. But here, I see no political ads on TV, I've seen maybe 2 signs in yards or by the side of the road, I don't know anyone other than myself who watched the debates, nobody is talking… nobody cares. Our primary is about 2 weeks away, and nobody cares. I'm sure this will be the lowest turnout in recent history, and I think this is going to have a negative effect for years to come. In an age where voter turnout is steadily on the decline, the last thing we should be doing is giving people a reason not to go to the polls… because it is going to be even harder to get them to go out and vote next time. This is a dangerous game we are playing.
