This is the end of the single-panel comics for a while. Which also means we won't see Papillion, or understand his relevance in the greater plot, for a while. But that's okay, because there isn't a greater plot yet.

It's covered by a speech balloon, so I figure I should mention what the motivational poster says.
It shows a broad-chested, grinning man in a business suit with a handful of money standing back to back with a skinny, hair in the face, pale, black clothing falling off probably a boy but still really cute person holding a notebook. The text reads: “There are many paths to success… but guess which one works.”
The joke is much in the Monty Python Meaning of Life sort.
I'm sure most of us felt like that poster was up in our middle school. It wasn't.
When I first designed the teacher, I wanted them to be as anonymous as possible, you would never really know what they look like and I'd never confirm their gender. I'm not sure if I would design a character intended to look like they could be anyone being white with light blond hair today. But the suit and the glasses would definitely stay.

Here we see Penny passing Crispen a note. In the original script, the next comic would have been a conversation between Penny and Crispen on a single piece of paper, speculating about what Papillion was going on about and what gender he was. But I decided that conversation just wasn't funny enough to be a comic. Which is just as well, as I then made the decision to make Papillon less androgynous and become the beefcake he is today. I'm glad that I made that decision, as it gives more variety to the cast, gives him a totally different silhouette than the other male characters, and makes for a funnier comic when scrawny, short, and distinctly androgynous Shino "ninjas" him into a fetal position.
And I get to draw a big-titty-bara, which is entertaining.
Fun fact that may never come up in the comic: Papillon entered a bodybuilding competition once, and the hair never grew back.
