This is a common dillema for newly landed immigrants. In this comic, of course it is exagerrated with drama and bullshit. As not all immigrants end up in the mess Eman's family ends up. It all matters in the person and their ability to cope with the same problems.

Racial relations. N. America has poor racial relations, generally speaking. As if it is inscribed in our genes to hate other races. :(

And in the Philippines, the idea of immigrating to N. America is being trumpeted… in such a way that if you hear all that stuff, you would imagine Canada and the USA as being paradise. Since the immigration industry needs to make money.

But thats not the case. There is no such thing as utopia on earth. As the old Filipino saying goes: Sa bawat gubat, meron ahas. (In every jungle, there are snakes)
