Rant of the Day

I just realized that my old high school in the Philippines was run like a police state. Why?

- High level of religious propaganda. At least an hour or two everyday of indoctrination. In the form of subjects called "religion" "philosophy" and "moral theology".

- Random days of bag-inspection on random classrooms. To sniff out "illegal" items of course (decided by the school). Such as cellphones, porn, drugs, weapons, trading cards, etc. No privacy. You are a slave. This is a prison. Look. I'm against bringing such items to school if they are brought out to disrupt the class and cause trouble. But searching and inspecting bags CROSSES THE LINE.

- The canteen banned "junk food". I'm against junk food but people's freedom of choice must be respected.

- You must conform to the religious ideology of the school. When one of my classmates did a presentation on why contraception is right, he was given a failing mark even if he presented it well. The teacher was fuming mad. If it was fair, he should have been graded based on how well he presented it.


On side note, the schools in North America are also run like a police state. Your parents are called if you are late or missing from class, you are arrested for sleeping in class, the police are called for school fights or bullying or for writing violent essays. Cmon. Isn't suspension or detention or calling up the parents reasonable for things like that? Also there is widespread indoctrination on what the government decides what is or what is not "politically correct".

@BlkKnight - you could say that. Though timeline-wise, this is probably just a few months before the "real" timeline in chapter 1.

@JustNoPoint - well, alot of religions are fake nowadays. Just exercise critical thinking in dealing with those.

@magickmaker - I thought that Jews would disown anybody who marries a gentile? Thats painful. Being disowned by your own family.

@Peipei - I understand what you mean. Believe me. At some point I was atheist until I realized that atheism leads to a dead end in the long run.

@Aussie_kid, ghostrunner - There's this little-known "pineapple cult" in the Philippines that has a leader who claims he is the son of God and believes pineapple is sacred because of "pine-up-all-diyos" (rhymes like "pineapple juice"… with "diyos" meaning God. Get it why pineapple juice is sacred?)

The people in his village claim that his sweat, piss, semen, and other body fluids have healing powers. Well that could be true. As psychic abilities and/or secret advanced ancient knowledge DO exist. The way I see it, he just knows some ancient knowledge (there are theories that the Philippines was once part of ancient Lemuria) and is using it to brainwash women to think that being in bed with him is such a great honor.
