Rant of the Day

I have a friend who told me that if it doesn't line up with 1 cor 13, that is NOT love but LUST. And that is selfish. I'm talking about a guy who is almost a recluse and does nothing but over analyze bible verses and grind his head through tons upon tons of research data during every waking moment.

The guy can literally start his own church and he actually has more knowledge than alot of pastors Ive talked to. But no. He thinks that religion is of the devil and one must follow the Bible with no religion.

Interestingly, a Satanic Chosen One I've dealt with (Yes. Satanic Super Soldiers DO EXIST!!!) arrived at the same conclusion. But the only difference is that this individual concluded that love is inherently selfish. ALL love. 1 Cor 13 is incomprehensible to this individual. Which is strange because this individual is very intelligent.

But anyway, isn't a man and woman loving one another and getting together a pre-requisite for a family? Could that be selfishness? Because come on. If the man or woman caught the other partner with someone else… isn't anger going to be the most likely result? Anger that can lead to causing physical harm or death to the cheating partner.

Did God install selfishness (if love is selfishness as per Chosen One point of view…) in humanity as a pre-requisite for procreation? Where do boundaries begin or end? Does this Satanic Chosen One have a point? If God installed selfishness in humanity does that make God evil?

How is it possible to apply 1 Cor 13 in an attached type of relationship? Because pay attention to verse 5…
"Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil"

The Bible is crystal clear that real love is unselfish. But… men and women get together to fulfill personal needs. The man needs his sexual needs fulfilled. And the woman needs her emotional and security needs fulfilled.

And it is only in later versions of the Bible that "charity" is turned to "love".

What do you think?
