This guy (an ex-Harwell Atomic scientist) and his daughter weave in and out of the story. They (like most of the characters) don't have names yet, but he has stolen a miniaturised Hadron-Collider (among other things) and she loves her dad but worries he may have apocalyptic tendencies.
