Snakes

This appeared in the 9th issue of the DMAA Ezine.

This picture went through a few design changes. Originally there were going to be multiple snake couples and it was going to be out in the open, but drawing problems came up.

As I developed this picture I also developed a bit of a backstory.

The statue hints at the origin of the snakepeople, a woman sealed up in this place to mingle with the snakes.

The blonde is the queen of the snakepeople, the brunette is the handmaiden she loves, but their's is a forbidden love. So with a trusted guard they went to the birthplace of their people, a place no one goes to anymore & they thought they would be undisturbed, but they never expected anyone to open the sealed door from the outside…

I considered continuing the story, but I never liked any of the directions it went.

I do like to think that whoever opened that door is thinking Indiana Jones famous line though. ;-)
