A rather pathetic anniversary post, but the best I could do. Is pathetic artist a category in the Drunk Duck awards? Could be the only category I would have a chance at.

Was experimenting with some watercolor pencils. First lesson? Don't draw up the whole thing first, then add water. Start with a base color, use water, and build up the other colors and shading. None of the instructions I've been able to find ever mentioned that.

The finished picture actually looks better than the scan. Scanners do a lousy job with colored pencils & watercolors. I had to muck about with contrasts and brightness to make the lighter parts visible.
