I had the honor of serving as a member of the New York National Guard back in the eighties. One of things I observed was that members of these units are together much longer than active duty units. They form life long friendships. They are at each other's homes for parties and such. To lose a member is  is so sad. Nat was probably a good friend of Miller and Carter and she probably knew their families. This I hope is a little tribute to our weekend warriors that give their time and these days are asked to do so much more than I was during my short stay in the Army National Guard.
