OK, this was not the intended strip for today, but after I checked NHL.com at around 1am, I just had to bust this one out (and it fits in before we start another arc). In a total shocker… that most of you won't find interesting unless you're hockey fans… the LA Kings traded the one player whose name the SlovHockeyans chant. Lubomir Visnovsky. He was sent to the Edmonton Oilers for Jarret Stoll and Matt Greene. This was something I truly did not expect, unlike their trade of Mike Cammalleri last week. So, am I sad about this? yes I am. He was arguably the Kings' best all around D-man, one of their alternate Captains, and just an awesome, nice guy. I got to meet him after a Kings' practice one time, and despite the language barrier and his shyness, he still had a bit of conversation with me. Cool dude. So Lubo, good luck in Edmonton. Help Souray hold that blue line. We'll see you back here during the season. I think that will be a good time for the SlovHockeyans to visit as well. Oh… to Stoll & Greene. You guys better make the trade worth it, and more.
Hockey ramblings over.
Brett
