MWWT: Spaceman #1 pg16
barking_frog onOne reader theorized, based on all the homeless standing around, that I was hinting the U.S. had suffered some kind of major economic crash in the "MWWT universe" – not true. The real-life kernel/counterpart of the Spaceman park is a little grassy area located between a library and a baseball diamond in Palm Springs, California, right along the street. There are sometimes as many as eight homeless temporarily camped with their shopping baskets and backpacks. For a couple years I drove by the spot every weekday, taking my son to high school. I suspect places like this and the park in MWWT aren't all that uncommon in areas of the U.S. with friendly homeless policies and a moderate climate.
