This is an exaggeration but not by much. One friend from elsewhere had his sandwich snatched from his hand by a seagull, and was shocked not only by their size compared to other places but that our gulls would do such a thing. I then told him its very common here, along with being atacked by them (especially in spring, their mating season). Honestly, they are like dinosaurs here, and are considered "rats with wings." MP got his car "decorated" by said gulls too…(They decided to do some target practice with it. More like carpet bombing)
Its funny for us locals when you see tourists and the like trying to be friendly with them, feeding them, etc (like what most people do in parks) and getting a nasty surprise on just how vicious our gulls are.
And before you ask, a lot of stuff has been tried to tackle them but none have worked, and in some cases its backfired (One case involved putting statue of eagles and hawks which made noises to scare gulls off. It worked elsewhere. Here the seagulls attacked them!)
