Major Palermo the Green Beret is referring to a deep decrease in the population of the US. His referring to Indochina could indicate that Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos never became seperate nations. It may be explained later or not.

This isn't Elsa from the 1945 parts, Belle/Vronska is playing a dual role here. Here she is Lieutenant Nancy Silverberg. The resemblance is going to matter later on.
