I lost the judging. I know how most judging is done because I did it for a while. The whole archive is almost never read only the first handful of pages are and the rest is scanned. Your whole opinion as a judge is based on that impression from the first few pages. If it holds you you'l tel yourself you'll go back and read it.

This is one reason funny comics do beter than serious ones. You always want to see the next punchline. Unless there is something truly spectaular you have that first impression and the scanning of the rest. No more and no less. When a judge tells you different they are either brand new tothe process or being disingenuous. Very rare is the judge who looks at everything. Even when doing a crique it's based on that first impression and glimpses at a small crosssection of the total work.

I did a lot of judging in my day and often worked on teams where we actively compared notes as we went along. That's just how it's done. Of course I'm pissed and embittered but I wasn't really expecting to win this time around as Mask of the Aryans was done on a whim with no script and the bare minimum of design before the photography.
