Wait a minute, Mr. Postman...

In this update I'm happy to present you a wonderful piece of fanart done by the extremely gifted Ashe Skyler of Just Another Day. Go read her comic here on Drunk Duck! You'll miss a lot if you don't!

Observant readers might notice that the façade of Gundula's house looks a bit different now. This is because my understanding of the old Bremen houses' architecture is a lot better than when I first drew it, having spent much time redecorating one and taking extended walks with my camera. When I first found the need to draw a view of the house I sort of went "Sod the details, just draw some kind of house and get on with the comic!" I didn't bother with a fixed layout and drew the rooms just according to my current purpose. I've regretted that ever since!
I have been trying to move to a more consistent concept for quite a while now. I mainly focus on arranging the rooms we've already seen in a fixed and logically possible layout. At the same time I'm making a few corrections to architectural details. I can't really imagine why I forgot to include some of them in the first place. One of those details is that most traditional Bremen houses have a porch or terrace like you see here, at least they have that in the vicinity where I had placed Gundula's house all along. I'm fairly sure now that this was finally the last major change I had to make, but it took me the best part of a year to arrive at this point, producing a comic so full of consistency errors on the way that I could never possibly hope to sort them all out. I'd have to redraw such a ludicrous amount of material that I decided to leave it all the way it is and just use my hard-won concept for future pages. *Sigh!*
Conclusion: If a webcomic starter asked me for advice today I'd tell them: Do what you want but do make a detailed plan of every building, no, even of each and every setting your characters enter more than once! Either that or don't draw any background at all!

Well, thanks for reading and have a nice weekend! I'm going to bed now.
