The Sorceress' Apprentice (Pt. 4)

To any children who might read this: don't you ever even think of trying that at home! Drunken indoor shooting is a big no-no! :)
Honestly, who could bear to look into Teddy's sweet button-eyes and pull the trigger? I couldn't - nor could Christian, which is why he shoots it in the back. Still he failed to see one important thing: if that bear even survived his entire childhood it could only mean that it must be virtually indestructible.

I think it was pretty clear that in the end Gundula has to save the day. Is it just me, or is she secretly a little proud of him?
As I already mentioned, the text of this page is my very own version of a famous classic poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. I drew somewhat on the translations by Edgar A. Bowring (1853), W.E. Aytoun and T. Martin (1859), Paul Drysen (1878), Margarete Münsterberg (1916), Edwin Zeydel (1955) However many of the lines are still mine, as I subjected the story to an extensive modernising. I mean, if Christian just wanted to take a bath he could simply use the taps, couldn't he? Also, a bulletproof teddybear is a lot more fun to draw than a broomstick (which Gundula doesn't use anyway).
All of the translations mentioned above are pretty good, each of them having their own strengths and weaknesses. If you’re interested in reading the real poem, I suggest you read them all or – even better – the German original.
Have a nice weekend and thanks for reading!
