I omitted the Plattdütsch pronunciation here, because it just wouldn't fit in. It doesn't matter, though, as no-one in the comic ever calls the poor guy by his name. If you're curious: if you say "Julius Lear" in English, you'll be almost there already. Platt and English are really more similar in many ways than most people realise. If you want to be completely correct, try applying that "u"-rule from Gundi's name to "Julius" and round your lips as if saying "oo" while at the same time pronouncing the "ee" in "Lear".

By the way, I wrote "Plattdütsch Pronunciation" all the time, because I think many readers will already have made up their mind on how to pronounce certain names, and I wouldn't like to force anything on anyone. It's not as if it really mattered much. Anyway, I think it's still a lot easier than all those Japanese names you find in so many webcomics elsewhere, which is why I never bothered to find English equivalents. ;)
