Running a tad late on my Wednesday night routine. As you probably know, I've been out of town for a few days, so I'm just trying to get back into my regular routine… next week, things should be back to normal.

ANYHOW… I've been looking forward to this page for quite some time! I'm sure you've probably noticed I'm not huge on splash pages– especially for webcomics– but I think its pretty clear that this page needed to be BIG!

And yep! Z-Squad! In the old days, a lot of things would go down like this… I'd create some throwaway characters (or "one time use" characters if you will) and Jeff would see potential in them and build something much better with them (on top of his own cool characters).

In this case I had come up with Nightblud and Hooks (who, previously had very silly names). Didn't think much of them, until Jeff took them, put them together in a group with a Jefe clone called Dark Jefe (hmmm… or could that be a Dark Universe Mastor with Jefe's Puppet powers???) and called them "Z-Squad" (I have to wonder if that was an intentional riff on X-Men… Jeff?). BRILLIANT. They had many a romp through the Mastorism U causing trouble here and there.

Their original conception was more as your archetypical bad guys… here they've got much better intentions. Although, in the current Mastorism U intention doesn't always equal perception, does it? I guess we'll just have to watch these guys develop!

Well, when all is said and done, Z-Squad is one of my favorite things from the "old days" (a long list, to be sure, but Z-Squad is very near the top), so i'm excited, after assembling them over Chapter 2, that they debut as a team here in Chapter 3!
