First off! Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome back. Looks like I got quite a bit of a spike in readership, so I feel like we're off to a great start. Love seeing the familiar faces, but also excited that there's possibly some newbies in there! Welcome aboard!
Instead of answering the comments directly this go around, I thought I'd generalize, but get a little more in depth about some of the things brought up. Hopefully no one minds….
People seem to dig the baby! Cool. I had fun with that one. I figured making him some sort of larvae type of thing would be appropriate. My wife loves him. Not sure if any other alien species infants are going to show up or not, but its an interesting thing to explore.
Setting it 15 years later. Anthony called me on this– and I think I mentioned to him a bit back that I was planning on doing 15 years later too and noted the coincidence between our comics there. Anyhow, the root of that is that THIS story was originally going to be the ONLY story and the 132 pages that came before was just going to be the back story to this one (ie– thought of, but never actually created). So the previous story was a (major) re-work of mine and Jeff's original stories, and in real time if I had started up again when I did with this story, it would have been fifteen years later, and I had intended it as a peek into our old universe so many years later. Anyhow, that being the case, much of the story is built upon that fact that quite a bit of time has passed.
In addition to that, since I did end up going ahead and telling the "back story" - I thought it would be interesting to do these two stories as book ends. So what you read before was the beginning, and now you're reading the end, leaving a huge 15 year gap in between to go back and fill in with various stories and adventures as I see fit. That's the idea anyway.
Anyhow, as for this particular page, this part of the story (as is the case with much of it), has been with me for a LONG time, but a lot of the details (such as the familiar Pthomar eight eyed freaky aliens) weren't developed until I had worked on the last story so, as much as this is an old idea for me, its still very fresh. Almost like reading something new.
Probably enough for one go around. Apologies if you were hoping for an individual response (probably be back to that next time), but I think I hit all the queries here. Tuesday I'll be back with more Mastorism! Thursday we'll hop over to another familiar planet– and then the following week, finally catch up with some old friends!
