Some panels can show you everything, and nothing at the same time.
I think I came up with a more realistic reaction to seeing someone you loved in that state. No Darth Vader "NOOOOOO!"s here.
If you really look at "the enemy" there in the last panel, he actually might be just as scared as Will.
