Mayle and Mayhem

Triss onIn the 3rd and 4th panel, May is pushing up Phia's arm sock.
Start of some drama here. Phia is really a very simple character. She's happy-go-lucky and wields here power with careless ease. Her bubbly nature isn't a front for deeper emotions and/or past problems. She's really quite simple and is almost exactly what she seems. So this next part will be a little out of the normal for her… more details next update.
Now, a bit about magic. It's easiest to think of spells as a product to be bought. People's power is the currency with which to "purchase" the spells, such as the healing of a wound or a magical shield. However, if one doesn't have enough magic to buy a spell, they can pay the rest of the cost in blood. It's good manners to use one's own, athough through extralegal means it's easy enough to get someone else's blood or even magic (although that's more difficult). The most common places to get blood from are the thighs and forearms, hence the scars and the reason May and Phia both wear arm socks or gloves and long pants.
Background + shading = marginally better comic for a lot more work. Hope you enjoy, people. I know how rough the shading is, and that it's in the wrong place sometimes, and I know that the background is a cheap gradient. The quality will improve eventually, I swear. Just, not right now. Hope that this makes up for the massive hurry I was in with those last 2. The background and shading was just an experiment… I haven't decided yet if I like it enough yet to bother to continue.
Back from my band trip. I know my readers (all three of them) will be glad to hear that I had a great time.
