This is a snippet of a story i've had rattling in my head for ages.

Set in a scifi world where bio engineering has become widely available. People can tamper with their genes as they please, if they got the money for it.

Protagonist girl here is an unregistered neuro engineer, she tunes dodgy organic AIs for a living. These AIs run everything from large factories to spaceships. She also tends to get spare parts from junkyards…
