Glitches in bio-AI are called Stutter. This happens when for example, the neuro core is overstrained. Or if it has not been properly attuned to its environment.

Bascially cores are like the navigators in Dune. They navigate ships through space at hyperspeed and long distance jumps. Can't go fast without one. Ships' base AI can only travel over short distances at limited speed, or navigate to pre-set point. The cores are much more flexible and can make split second decisions in unkown territory to get a ship safely to its destination.
