Meatware generally undergoes personality adjustments, making servants more likely to be obedient. There's always room for error though, it's a delicate balancing act to not turn your meatware into a braindead vegetable. Beast heads are primed to be very protective their charge. But if a beast head's persona is glitchy, it could deteriorate into being overly possessive of its charge.

In D.'s case something definitely went wrong, the last thing a beast head should be is uppity. Darn those pesky things called emotions.
