This is where the "bio" in biopunk comes in. In cyberpunk this would just be a computer chip or something. I always wondered how cyborgs even work, wouldn't they need to have a battery pack along with the tech parts? Well in this world, you are the battery pack. Implants jack into your metabolism like a parasite. If you got very demanding implants, you might have to take additional nutrient/ATP supplements if you don't wanna get deficiencies, or suddenly collapse from a sugar low.

Even a lot of the plastics used for tech are grown from organic matter, mushrooms and polyps that were engineered to produce specific materials. The days of processing fossil fuels are long past. The organic plastic tends to have a yellow or pinkish sheen to it, Iki's interface bug is yellow.
