It's just your horrible, horrible imagination.

This comic was actually HELL to draw. It seriously took nigh on an entire week to finish. First I wanted to copy/paste angles of the bed I've done previously, but I remembered that I actually draw things at twice the final size, then scale them down, and all that I had left was… well, things half the size necessary.

And I didn't feel like scaling them up to make 'em grainy. My editing process SUCKS.

I then decided to re-draw the bed, but nothing seemed to perfectly illustrate Melody hiding underneath her blanket. Until finally, I decided to just sketch it out on paper (having a million sketchbooks from a million separate Christmases saves my ass once again), and I decided to just go ahead and draw a cut-view of her inside the blanket.

While I was at it, I decided to show it at normal lighting just so you can tell what the hell's going on.

Coloring and font took… like… a couple days, and one day, just to force myself to get around to keep doing it. This was seriously terrible to do, but at least it turned out very nicely.

The sound *chi-ku chi-ku* was meant to just be a basic chattering of some small creature. I hope that came across alright. Same with the horrible final scream before it was devoured by the Thing in the Night.

Further notes - Melody's assurance to herself was written at the last moment, as I actually have a large bit of filler in this chapter and I wasn't sure what she should be doing in this particular comic. The "?" was added at the last minute so people didn't think she was the one going *chi-ku chi-ku* and I don't think the difference in fonts of that and the scream were enough to differentiate the Shadow Creature from the um… Shadow Beast.

Final note - the second panel has got to be the cutest thing I have ever drawn.
