Wow… just wow… that was a pain to do.

Wiktionary describes a harbinger as "A person or thing that foreshadows or foretells the coming of someone or something." Technically speaking, I suppose there were harbingers prior to this chapter, though this chapter itself is setting up for this character's full appearance.

In case you're wondering, the statuettes that feature in that room with him are death gods from various mythologies. The Ancient Egyptian Anubis, the Aztec Mictlantecuhtli, and the Hindu (and later Buddhist) Yama.

This was the first time I actually did any major image searches - all statuettes were found and based upon one or more variations on similar three-dimensional figures of their respective deities.

My original concept had either death gods, or other religious symbols. I was toying with a crucifix and a rosary, but I decided the crucifix would be too difficult and lean too close to Christianity, which I will be doing later with this guy anyway - let's just say he takes in as much religion as he can. But I also wanted many, many, many candles, which I could no longer manage in the final look, but I managed to squeeze one in anyway.

I added in a little bit of something else, too, which seems to point out exactly who this is. For those who remember the end of Scene 1, you'll probably get it before the others.

And no he's not even a bit tan compared to the other characters. The room's just very dark. :)
