So, yesterday's comic used the wrong font for Simon. I apologize. I was so out of it, I even referred to it as "Part 1" (that, at least, has been fixed).

So, enjoy the new style. It'll hopefully be this way until the end of this Scene. But I promise, the story is good. Look, even Death is different!

He was seriously the most fun part of this page. Drawing him, coloring him… no editing, that was a pain… but he looks awesome.

So much symbolism in his image - the gold and silver eyes actually come from an earlier story I did, with a similar art style, which surrounded a similar God-King (or rather, a King who became a God). The headgear was different for that guy, though.

The "wings" are actually the color of Death's regular "skin" in the series, as is his cape the regular color of his "robe" within the series. Except the inner lining. It's much lighter. Let's just say it's Melody's skirt.

The God-King's eyes, however, ARE the color of Melody's.

The Sun and Moon perched on Death's "wings" are meant to suggest his association with time, however, there is a symbol that anyone who pays close attention may recognize…

While this story is a bit of a detour and does little to actually progress the plot, but it gives a lot more detail on Death as an individual, and the concepts surrounding how he works. As well as a few elements that you will probably recognize as applying to the plot. If not now, then later.

Also: I recently edited this page. You may notice a cat - it's there in memorial for my cat, who died this morning. It was a last-minute job, but I did it as close to a cat as I could (I suck at drawing animals).

Just so you all know, I didn't cry. Not to be macho about it, I just have difficulty crying. I could probably force myself, but it wouldn't be honest. My family and I knew it was coming soon, and when he was pretty much calling for me last night, I knew it was probably his last night.

I feel like a loser, but a eulogy feels necessary.

You were my best friend, and I love you, old man. If there's anything after death, I hope you're enjoying it.

To Morty: Be gentle with him, 'kay?

And to all of you: Memento mori.
