It took me hours of trying, and looking up pics on Google… and I still don't think I got that blood splatter right.

Originally, this was going to be a lot more violent, and a lot more gorey. You'd have seen her losing her eyes, for sure. I also planned the knife to be a box cutter, but… let's face it, that won't cut through ribs.

Now that I think of it, I don't think that knife could either. Let's suspend our disbelief for now, though, shall we?

And um… I guess by now we are all aware this is NOT a children's comic. I'm sure the fact that a cute child is involved harms that reality a bit, but… yeah, it's not pretty.

And before you're all, "You're really just covering yourself 'cuz you changed the tone of the series!" Not really. Samael was planned from the very first page. Just like Simon.

(I bet a few of you were thinking Simon was gonna get it in this chapter, though, right? Come onnn, you were hoping he'd die.)

Regarding red: I was actually thinking to do a very bright red. Unfortunately, I realized very quickly that it clashed horribly with the gray wall (which I HATED drawing the bricks for, I always do, I think the overall appearance for the walls in their entirety look crappy). So, I remembered my mistake with layering that made it a dull red. And I scrapped THAT right away. And then I went into GIMP and toyed around with shading. 75% was a good amount of brightness for me.

I really wish I could do it bright bright red later on, though.
