End of Scene 10 (Memento Mori)

End of Act I.

Memento Mori.

I'll be taking a two week recess to recuperate from the stress of doing comics. Meanwhile, I'll be writing Act II and probably starting on Scene 11. Woo.

Since my mom is upset that my comics are a bit… depressing… I may hafta do a side project (probably not updated as much as Mel&Mac) to cheer her up, as well as any of my fans who are a bit disturbed by the series.

You lightweights.

I never intended this to be a children's series, though, and I'm sorry, but I won't be changing the tone for anyone's comfort. Originally it was supposed to be humorous all the way through (think first four chapters, a sort of Calvin and Hobbes feel), but I realized very quickly that I don't have that much writing skill, and it would get old VERY quick for both me and my readers. So, I stretched out and added a plot. With Simon. Have we gone through this?

I then decided to add Samael, which made the series a lot darker. And joining Samael's story was a character I came up with completely off to the side, intending him to be for somethin else entirely. But once I realized he'd be perfect for this series, he became what will hopefully be a very fun part of the next Act.

You all know who I'm talking about, right?

Don't worry, you guys, it will return to comedy very soon. Just know that this IS a series about death, and more people WILL die.

And yes, even if I did give a Calvin and Hobbes feel for the outset, I DID plan on it being rather dark. Geez, I was going to START the series with Elegy for FiFi, and Jeffrey was gonna kick the bucket FIRST PAGE because he mocked Melody having an imaginary friend. But that would have made everything shift gears right away, or required a suspension of disbelief ("WHY DID NOBODY GET THAT HE'S REAL???" - Exactlyyy), and I didn't want either.

Would have been funny as hell, though.

Random other stuff for the break - I might try and work on editing during my break. Scene 9, Page 9 might have a complete story change, as I want to present the parents' neglect from a new perspective rather than just her mom being a bitch and her dad not listening. In fact, I want to change it to something I'd originally planned and plum forgot after I lost my script. But I remembered it now, so… I will be changing it. And yes, it will be a riot.
