I wonder what THAT means.

On one hand, he may mean the surface point that if he could, he would have made it so he would never have to bring Melody there. On the other hand, he may mean that he wishes he would never have come to the orphanage in his own youth. On the ungainly third hand, he may mean that he wish he was never born.

Oddly enough, I don't think it's my place to say.

I think this page came out very differently in my mind. Particularly because I think these bits took place outside the gate, rather than inside. And I think he actually walked away with his back facing her, until he turned back to tell her all that. But, you make do with what space you have.
