Scene 25: His Icy Grip

And here we are. This should be fun.

Interesting story behind this cover, I actually intended it to be quite simple, with Death's grip around a soul gem. I felt that was too generic, and probably already done in a previous Scene anyway. So I went for something different.

Death has long been thought of as something of a chessmaster. Probably due in part to Ingmar Bergman's 1957 film, "The Seventh Seal." But you never know, maybe he'd been thought of as such a thing even before.

Now, a true chessmaster plans his game from beginning to end, able to get into the mind of his opponents, calculating their actions and planning accordingly. In many stories, this also occurs in life.

The pieces on the board correspond to the major characters in the game Death is playing. See if you can guess who is which.

(I'll give you a hint: I'm surprised that Melody has actually come to look so much like the piece that symbolizes her.)

Also note that Death is not on the board. And um… technically, neither is Ace.
