Panel two: Purple Rain by Prince, Savage Garden by Savage Garden.

Panel three: Kiki's Delivery Service VHS clamshell. This is the Streamline English-dubbed version, not the Disney/Buena Vista release that came out on both VHS and DVD.

Much like Laputa: Castle in the Sky and My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service was an especially family-friendly Ghibli title. Disney has released most of the Ghibli catalog, but these three in particular were well-known in the U.S. before the anime boom.

Panel four: the image used for the history book is a photograph from Gettysburg. The colors of the images in panels two through four have been retained, but this one happened to be in black-and-white.
