The bag on the right in panel 2 is modeled after one that's served me well for many years. It's a JanSport. You can still get those, but they're not as nice as they used to be.

The comic in panel 6 is "The Peak", a superhero story about a young man who awakens into extraordinary powers after a near-fatal accident. The drawing is by me. The concept is by Alexander S. Frank, who you may know as "Herr Logan".
