Chapter 3, page 24.

Panel one: a model Constitution-class starship from "Star Trek". Presumably the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701), though even with the most basic model kit you can make the USS Constellation (NCC-1017)… which is exactly what the show's special effects people did for the episode "The Doomsday Machine".

Also in panels one and four: "Sgt. Frog" a.k.a. "Keroro Gunsou" manga volume 1, released in the US by TokyoPop. The story revolves around diminutive aliens whose task is to prepare Earth for conquering, with humor involving the way they deal with various aspects of human culture. There's an anime version directed by Junichi Sato of "Goldfish Warning" and "Princess Tutu" fame, but as of this writing the show hasn't been released in the US, so you should go watch "Invader Zim" instead.

Panel 2: An Adamski-type space vehicle. A flying saucer. A UFO.

Panel 3: "Crisis on Infinite Earths", a DC Comics crossover. Putting lots of superheroes together in the same story isn't a new idea, but it's been a popular one of late. The desktop image is of an array of satellite dishes used to try to contact extraterrestrial life.
