The couple making out in these first two panels is the same pair that showed up earlier, with some appropriate costume changes.

The woman's outfit is based on the powered suit design from "Gantz", a show about people who were supposed to have died but are instead recruited to exterminate aliens secretly living on Earth in order to earn back their lives. The show is much more frank about sex than your typical TV anime, which did help immensely in making it a more rounded drama. I found it frustrating that most everyone had such a hard time grasping the situation they were in, but then again I can't claim I'd do any better. In video games I usually die a bunch of times before I get the hang of it.
