The Chaos Realm, modeled after the Dark World from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. As a tie-in to the game, Shotaro Ishinomori drew a twelve-part manga that ran in Nintendo Power magazine. My opinion at the time (and to this day) is that it should have had more pages–the story was terribly abbreviated and relied on fortuitous coincidences to move the plot along.
Making a comic now, though, I see what kind of investment of time and energy it takes. Over a 45-year career, Ishinomori drew more than 128,000 pages, which comes to about 8 pages per day–or one 240-page book every month for his entire adult life.
With this, chapter 9 comes at last to a close. Had I stuck to my page-a-week schedule, it would have taken 6 months instead of 7, but this way at least I had time off to pursue other projects and regain some of my enthusiasm for drawing.
You may have noticed that there's been no schedule for this month. Pages have gone up whenever they were completed, and I tried to find time for it each day. The plan for the next few months is to complete the pages for chapter 10, draw chapter 11, sketch chapter 12, and write chapter 13. Updates and revisions will continue on a "whenever" basis.
